The annual New Products Awards at Glee this year are to include a new set of categories within which, for the first time, pet shops and aquatics product retailers will be able to compete. To be judged alongside Pet Product Innovation and Aquatic Product Innovation competitions, the Retailer Awards will look for genuine innovations that have improved customer engagement, footfall, sales or provided real local benefits.

The Pet Care Trust is undertaking a State of the Sector survey of pet product retailers. Questionnaires are being distributed to every pet shop and garden centre with a pet retail department, asking for responses to 50 of the most pressing questions currently facing pet retailers.

Pet owners fall into two distinct categories says the National Office of Animal Health, (NOAH). It is not that we are either cat or dog people, furry or feathered, nor even male or female. Apparently, according the latest pet owner survey from NOAH, we are either Preventers or Non-preventers.

The UK holiday lettings website Holidaylettings.co.uk has reported results of a customer survey. The report indicates that just 6% of pet owning holidaymakers have arranged EU Pet Passports for their pets.

The Electronic Collars Manufacturer's Associations, (ECMA) has responded to yesterday's announcement that the Welsh Assembly plans to ban electric shock collars. Condemning the Welsh move as hasty, premature and unnecessary, the ECMA says that a recent survey of 350,000 owners of electronic collars found that over 95% say the devices have either saved the lives of their pets or made them a great deal safer, and have given pet owners peace of mind.

The use of electric training aids, including shock collars, is to be banned in Wales. The Welsh Assembly Government announced yesterday that it is to produce draft detailed Regulations introducing the ban.

The International Association of Assistance Dog Partners, (IAADP) takes place at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel in London today, marking the end of the 20th annual Assistance Dogs International Conference, (ADI).

We are a small registered charity. We are desperate to feed many stray animals in our large village of Davutlar in Turkey. The KORU BENI (save me) animal clinic needs food & medications. Please can anyone help.
